APPRENTICE JOB DESCRIPTION
Prepares for advancement by learning skills of painting/drywall industry and acquiring tools of the trade. Prepares surfaces for finishing and ASSISTS Journey level painters/Foreman in the following: Applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures by performing the following duties.
ABILITIES:- Able to prepare surfaces as directed by lead/supervisor
- Good manual dexterity
- Able to recognize, organize tools, supplies, and sundries
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Maintain brushes, roller covers, tools and other equipment as required
- Perform general set-up and clean-up at job site
- Able to lift and move ladders and 5-gal paint buckets
- Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures
- Helps to train/teach helpers in all aspects of the painting/drywall industry

REQUIREMENTS:- Driver License, registered vehicle with insurance for transportation to and from jobs
- Owns and carries required SPS hand tools
- Attends continuing education classes
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Has mastered all aspects of HELPER level
SKILLED AT:- Sanding
- Masking
- Caulking
- Spackling
- Scraping
- Protection
- Removing/Reinstalling switch covers, fixtures, hardware etc
- Pressure washing
- Brush and roll enamels and latex
